Position: Product Engineer

Relocation Assistance Provided

Base Compensation: $45-$67K + 15% Monthly Bonus Plan

Designs and develops new or revised products to support market needs.
Applies knowledge of industry and customer specifications, as well as
knowledge of internal and supplier manufacturing capabilities into final
designs. Coordinates the prototyping, sampling, and testing processes.
Manages project timelines and product costs, and communicates status of
these to a product development team. Supports rollout and training of
product to internal and external contacts.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design and develop new products and existing product enhancements based upon
input from marketing, engineering, and manufacturing studies. Create
models, assemblies, detail prints, and bill of materials in Pro/Engineer to
support manufacturing of components and assemblies both in-house and by
suppliers.
Apply knowledge of internal, customer, and industry standards into design
concepts to ensure product conformance.
Apply knowledge of internal, customer, and supplier manufacturing process
capabilities and limitations into designs. Schedule and coordinate timely
design reviews with appropriate internal, customer, and supplier contacts
during appropriate phases of the product development cycle.
Coordinate the validation of new concepts or revised designs through the
following activities:
. Stack-up and other engineering calculations
. Prototype and sample manufacturing and evaluation
. Sample testing, results analysis, and reporting
. Design refinement and revision based upon the above activities
Create and maintain schedules for assigned projects. Communicate status to
cross-functional team via project review meetings. Adjust project timelines
as necessary to accommodate changes in priorities or scope.
Monitor product and tooling costs against project budgets through cost
analysis and payback calculations. Apply knowledge of product function and
manufacturing capabilities while ensuring products meet cost targets.
Support rollout and training on new or revised products by providing
technical information for use by sales, marketing, and manufacturing
functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 2-3 years of product design
and development experience with mechanical systems and components.
Experience in the fenestration industry preferred.
Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes including metal
extrusion, plastic extrusion, injection molding, and assembly techniques.
Proven experience in successfully managing multiple product development and
launch programs.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling, assembly, and detailing, preferably
Pro/Engineer. Proficiency with MS Office software, including MS Project.
Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
